Mome reads Mommy, My daughter's way to spell it when she was younger... It stuck. My son calls me Mome... just like it looks. I now sign all my notes to them "Love, Mome". It's our inside secret and makes them smile. I always want them to smile.

Memory Walk

The weather was absoltely beautiful on Saturday for our Alzheimers Memory Walk.  We walked just under 3 miles and had a good time.  Our group raised just over $600. The walk brought in over $20,00.  Donations are still being taken until November15.

I must admit that this is the first charity "walk" I've ever been involved in and I really enjoyed it. Our Mom's group has decided to do a minimum of 3 next year.  We'll do the Alzheimer's walk again, The MS Walk, and are searching for one more.  I wonder if it had been raining and cold if we would be so eager to do more?  (Yes, we would)

Like I said in previous posts, just knowing that you did something good for other people, makes it all worth while.  I sent out some e-mails to friends and family back in April when we originally signed up.  I sent out another round 2 weeks prior to the event, and raised $115.  Not spectacular, but every little bit helps.

I remembe,r as kids, my brothers and I would go door to door every year collecting money for the Jerry Lewis Telethon.  Unfortuneately that practice is no longer acceptable, but it taught us that there were people less fortunate than us and we always wanted to help.  That is something I definitely want my kids to learn and hopefully they will be just as eager to help others.
