Mome reads Mommy, My daughter's way to spell it when she was younger... It stuck. My son calls me Mome... just like it looks. I now sign all my notes to them "Love, Mome". It's our inside secret and makes them smile. I always want them to smile.

Port Wine and Oreos

I know it's not Tuesday. But I'm excited. I'm excited because here in Virginia, the weather is finally getting Fall like and I LOVE Fall. Some years we almost miss it and it stays warm through Christmas, but it looks like we will have a beautiful Fall with leaves changing and cool temperatures.
So, I thought it would be a good time to tell you about my favorite fall beverage...
Nothing takes the chill off better than a nice glass of port wine. I love the sweet flavor, I love the spicy aroma, and it goes fantastic with dark chocolate (better than milk even).
My parents have a little candy shop nearby (in Michigan) and they purchase dark chocolate covered Oreos to enjoy every night for desert with red or port wine. I've become quite addicted and they bring a dozen every time they visit, but that's usually Summer time and I want them in Fall and Winter. So here's my secret recipe.

Chocolate Covered Oreos

Oreos (I like to used the double stuffed ones, but either will do)
Chocolate (I like to use the Wilton dark chocolate melts)

Melt chocolate per instructions on package
Dip Oreos in chocolate and completely cover
Set on wax paper and chill (10 minutes will do, 5 in the freezer)

Pour a glass of Port wine, grab a cookie and Enjoy! You'll be in Heaven, promise.

I like to keep the cookies in the freezer, because I like them "hard". My parents prefer to keep theirs in the fridge, and room temperature is fine too.
I'll look forward to hearing of your first Oreo/Port Wine experience.
