Mome reads Mommy, My daughter's way to spell it when she was younger... It stuck. My son calls me Mome... just like it looks. I now sign all my notes to them "Love, Mome". It's our inside secret and makes them smile. I always want them to smile.

PTA and Public Speaking

So Boogie started Kindergarten this year and I decided I would be a Room mom. I want to help out in any way I can and figure since a lot of mom's work, I would contribute in the classroom. I'm not sure about this PTA though. I think they are all nice and friendly enough, I think I just had visions of Harper Valley PTA in my head and they are so Not that! Thank goodness.

We had a meeting tonight and the woman (Carole) who volunteered to be in charge of the room moms, and was supposed to go over everything, said maybe 3 words. The President had to keep coming in from the hall to cover the info. The poor president would cover something, turn it over to Carole, and walk away. Carole would go right after her and make her come back in to cover the next item. Really? Why I applaud her for stepping up, if you are petrified of public speaking, maybe it's NOT something you should volunteer for. Am I being too harsh?

Oh, I know, I can introduce her to the wonderful world of blogging and maybe she'll find her voice. I bet she would write crazy love stories about her torrid affair and what they do all day while the kids are at school. Now that I would listen (read) to.

This is just a peeve of mine, I'll stop complaining. What bothers you?
