Mome reads Mommy, My daughter's way to spell it when she was younger... It stuck. My son calls me Mome... just like it looks. I now sign all my notes to them "Love, Mome". It's our inside secret and makes them smile. I always want them to smile.

Worlds Best Brownies

I'm not even sure they are brownies, well they are to me. Some people call them Chocolate caramel squares, they don't last long enough in our house to be called anything. This is the recipe I made for the PTA bake sale on Election day and thought I'd share as everyone is thinking about what to make for their holiday treats.
Chocolate Caramel Brownies
50 caramels (14 ozs)
6 ozs semi sweet chocolate chips
2/3 C. evaporated milk (small can)
German Chocolate cake mix (17.5 oz)
2/3 C. melted butter
Melt caramels with 1/3 c. evaporated milk and set aside. (double boiler or microwave works best)
Generously grease (I use Pam) a 9x13 pan.
In a large bowl. combine dry cake mix, butter, and remaining evaporated milk. By hand, stir until dough holds together. Press 1/2 of dough into pan, bake at 350 for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Crumble remaining dough over caramel mixture. Return to oven and bake 15-18 minutes. Cool slightly. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Cut into 36 squares.
I cut mine into 24 squares and then made the mistake of eating one. Way to large for the richness. This recipe is pretty easy, yet tastes extravagant. I'd love to hear what you think.
