Mome reads Mommy, My daughter's way to spell it when she was younger... It stuck. My son calls me Mome... just like it looks. I now sign all my notes to them "Love, Mome". It's our inside secret and makes them smile. I always want them to smile.

Broken Heart, Chicken Minis and some Beading

randomtuesday

A friend of mine lost her husband to cancer early this morning and it saddens me to imagine what she is going through. We're only friends through facebook but getting that e-mail this morning broke my heart a little. Is that strange?

Still looking into a life insurance online quote. Hubster needs it too now that he is currently un-employed. We also discussed weather or not we needed to get the cobra coverage for health insurance since (we thought) he would be starting a new job within the month. It's been 5 weeks with no start date in sight. 3 visits to the pediatrician, 2 emergency room visits and a visit to an orthopedic and we're damn glad we opted to get it.

We had Puddin Pop's Birthday Party over the weekend at Chick-Fil-A, her favorite place. I ordered party platters to feed all the guests. If you haven't tried the chicken minis...you need to. It's a single nugget in a mini biscuit brushed with honey butter. So delicious. I'm not sure if it's on the breakfast menu because we usually only go for lunch or dinner but I would encourage everyone who has a Chick-Fil-A near to get their hands on some. You won't be disappointed.

Puddin Pop and I spent some time beading together last night. She got a kit for her birthday and I broke out my beads that I have had packed up for over a year. I got the bug again so we'll be doing more today. She is making some pretty bracelets...all on her own.

That's my random for this Tuesday. Make sure you head over to The Un Mom to link up and read some more random posts.

  1. So sad to hear about your friend's husband passing away. No it's not strange that it breaks your heart a little. It shows you have compassion and that is a GOOD thing.

I'm also sorry to hear there's no progress on the job situation. It's a stressful time for sure. Hang in there. It seems like I had many visits to the doc when Matt was unemployed. We opted for catastrophic coverage through ASSURANT Health. It was about $350 a month for our family of 5. A higher deductible kept the premium down but protected us against more catastrophic stuff.

Chick Fil A, can't wait to try it. It's being built near us and opens soon. Well not so near us. About a 20 minute drive, but I'll find a way to get there.

    Enjoy your beading!

  2. Sorry about the friend--cancer is so tough. Have fun with the beading--I could get into it if it wasn't so time consuming(and spendy).

  3. So sorry to hear about your friend's husband. It doesn't matter that you aren't best friends, it's a friend and it's a shame!

Love Chick Fil A. Happy Birthday to Puddin' Pop!
    Good thing you have insurance!

  4. I am sorry about your friend. I think that the compassion in your heart lets you grieve for them even if you don't "know" them personally.

    Chick-Fil-A sounds yummy!

  7. Chik-a-fil (I've said it like that for years) is yummy all around, yes they have the mini's for breakfast. MMMM!
My MJ never got into the beading, she did like pretending with the beads though - cooking, pool water for barbies, etc...
Sorry for your/friend's loss. Cancer is a terrible killer. I have heard so many stories, I am the leader of my companies (Duke Energy)Relay for Life. The survivors and families tell the stories. I cry every time.
